Over the past three months the state of Oklahoma has finally received a substantial amount of rain. Oklahoma has been in a drought the past year and despite all of the rain, significant portions of Oklahoma remain well under yearly averages. As a result of all of the rain, the statewide burn ban has been lifted and everything is greening up!
For the past month, rainfall has been above normal everywhere across the state, except for the panhandle. In southeast Oklahoma, despite above normal precipitation over the past three months, there is still a deficit of nearly 19 inches of rain over the past year. Deficits like that will not be made up anytime soon and we still run the risk of drought.
Hopefully we can keep up a slightly wetter pattern across the state to continue to battle the drought conditions. Keep the rain coming!!
